With Scopio, Alape succeeded in reinterpreting and redefining the appearance of a classic washdish: The tapered design of this range, which was designed by sieger design, perfectly embodies the architectural clarity of Alape’s portfolio while reflecting the archetype of the washplace – the classic enamel dish.
The design of all five Scopio products combines two geometries: A circular basin mould and a tapered telescopic external shape, which was the main idea behind the Scopio name. This contrast and the omission of right angles further enhance Scopio’s puristic design. For instance, the floor-standing piece sets stylistic accents in the room.
The telescopic design and narrow radii of this series achieve a modern look and timeless elegance. A 3 mm thick dish basin and two washstands with different heights are available as floor-standing or wall-mounted versions to suit the structural setting and the customer’s taste.
When designing Scopio, sieger design was inspired by the contemporary Zeitgeist, which is dominated by light and delicate products. „So far, the pattern vocabulary has been based on a very strict geometry. Meanwhile, we are trying to expand Alape’s syntax a little bit. It is important to make things appear more charming and elegant in a contemporary context while adding modularity and versatility”, says Michael Sieger.
Alape’s distinctively precise and small radii are also characteristic of Scopio. The recess edge of the dish basin is a particularly striking element which should be consciously perceived as a frame. To add emphasis to this clarity, even the valve cap is enamelled in white. Just like all dishes, even the Scopio solution has a dark spacer ring between the basin and the counter top. This adds a suspended touch and facilitates cleaning.
The dish basin has a diameter of 375 mm and a height (incl. the spacer ring) of 115 mm. The floor-standing washstand has a diameter of 400 mm and a height of 900 mm. The wall-hanging washstand has a diameter of 400 mm and is 350 mm high. Both the floor-standing and the wall-hanging washstand are available with or without tap hole. Due to the telescopic shape of the Scopio washstands, they come with a specially designed wall bracket that enables the tap fitting to be directly attached to it and not to the basin edge, as is customary. A shorter wall bracket is also available for the version with wall-mounted fittings. A bottle trap, a fixing set and a white valve cap are also included in the scope of delivery of both washstand versions.
